BLOG 10: ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES

Hello!
I have always thought that learning English it's such an amazing experience and it is really important in life because is the most common language of the world. You can literally communicate with a person from another country, who might have a different culture and also a different language.
Learning English at university has been fun, I enjoy writing blogs but sometimes there are some topics that are difficult for me because I don't know about postgraduate studies and things like that.
I really struggle speaking in English when I'm being evaluated because I have stage fright so I need to improve on that, but I really enjoy challenging myself when I'm speaking with a person from another country because I know they wouldn't judge me, I mean they are learning Spanish too. I hope you get my point.
I use English a lot, I watch movies with subtitles and all the music I listen to is in English. I also watch a lot of videos on Youtube like interviews and shows from the US, that's like my guilty pleasure. I also read a lot of movie reviews from sites like The Hollywood Reporter, New York Times, Variety Fair and others especially in this time of the year because of the Oscar buzz and all of that. I basically live on the internet until the Academy Awards, I love cinema.
I think I will never stop learning English and that is somehow fascinating because it makes me want to keep improving on it.
As always, thank you for reading. I hope you have a lovely day :)

BLOG 9: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Hello there! I hope you are having a lovely week so far.
Today I'm going to write about a topic that I don't know that well. There are a few things I would change of my study programme but I don't really mind how it is right now.
I'm happy with the subjects that we have in the first year because in my opinion you have to know all the basic sciences in order to know more complicated subjects like physiology or botany. I don't know anything about the other subjects of the career but it seems like they are okay because I haven't heard anything bad about them.
I'm happy with the length of studies (five and a half years) because I think you learn all the details of the career you are studying.

I think that some of the lessons are way too long, for example, we have mathematics for three hours straight and when it's over you are so exhausted.
Even when we have a lot of hours of one subject, some teachers seem like they are in a rush because it's like they are throwing all of their knowledge at you in one class, it's quite daunting and scary.

In terms of faculty facilities I'm pleased but I have some troubles with the acoustic of the classrooms, you can barely listen to what the teacher is saying and that it's awful.
I would like to have more places to study because when we are getting closer to exams everyone is in the library and making so much noise.

The use of technology is fine but I don't know a lot about technology so the less we use it the better.

As I said, I'm pleased with the current programme and I don't have so many complaints.

BLOG 8: SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Hi guys, today I'm going to write about my summer holidays.
This is really exciting because I'm going back home. I will hang out with my friends and also spend time with my family, I miss them so much and I can't wait to see everyone. I think I'm struggling with homesickness right now.
I'm sure that my uncle will make me work in the farm but I don't really care because as I said, I miss pretty much everything.
I have made really good friends in university, to be honest with you we became close friends really quickly. We called ourselves family, that's so cute :)
We want to go to Papudo, one of our friends has an apartment there. I'm sure we will have fun because apparently we love to be around each other, sometimes it's quite annoying for other people and I don't blame them for that.
I also think I will go to crazy adventures with my dad like hiking, I don't know why I do this to myself. I hate sports, I'm so bad that it's embarrassing but I like spending time with my dad.
I want to learn how to drive and I think I will do it in Victoria because we live away from the city and the chances of killing somebody are not that high. I know it sounds awful but it's true.
I hope you have fun in your holidays :)

BLOG 6: POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

Hello, how are you? I hope you are having an amazing week so far.
Today I'm going to write about postgraduate studies, a topic that is quite difficult for me because I don't know anything about it.
I did some research about postgraduate studies in the pharmacy area and I found out that University of Chile offers a PhD on pharmaceuticals sciences. I would like to take this one because apparently it has a lot to do with investigation. Molecular Pharmacology seems like a fun subject in the program. My only problem with this and also every single one of the PhDs, is that you have to do a thesis to get your degree and I suffer with stage fright since an early age but I need to learn how to deal with it, otherwise I won't be able to do a lot of things.
I would like to study in Chile and England, the second one because I want to learn English and study in an English speaking country seems like a good idea.
To conclude with this topic I want to make clear that I think postgraduate studies are really important because you grow up as a professional and as a person. Also you keep your brain constantly working.
At the end of the day you never stop learning.
That's it, thank you for reading. See you next time.

PETS

Hi, how are you?
I still remember the day Maco arrived home. Well his real name was Junior but my cousins changed it to Maco because of my name. Back to the story, I was 5 years old and it was my birthday. My dad arrived with a little box and said something like "you have to take good care of him, he is so little". Then, I saw a small beagle. He was so cute.
Since the beginning, he was a bit of a nutter. He was always moving and destroying everything in his way, especially my dad's shoes. Also, he was a little silly, he hit himself so many times that I can't even count. But he was a very loving puppy and I always say he was my shadow, he followed me all the time.
I live in the countryside so he got in trouble so many times, he was kind of a survivor. As I said, he was so hyper and always looking for an adventure. One time he came home with a mouse trap in his feet, we took him to the vet.
Maco sadly passed away a few years ago, that was probably one of the saddest days of my life but I remember him with a smile on my face, he was such a good puppy.
Anyways, I loved him deeply and for me he was a warrior.
I hope you have a lovely week and I'll see you soon!

MY FUTURE JOB

Hello everyone! How are you?
Today I'm going to talk about my future job. Thinking about it makes me feel a little anxious because I don't even know what I'm going to do tomorrow.
When I was a little girl, I thought that I was going to be a chef because I had a small oven and I was obsessed with it. Then, I wanted to be a filmmaker because I love movies, especially "The Little Mermaid" and "The Lion King".
Now my life has changed so much, I moved to Santiago and I started studying Pharmacy. Why Pharmacy? Because I really enjoyed chemistry in school. Also, my aunt was a huge influence because she studied this career and she loves it.
I want to travel a lot so I would like to have a job that gives me the opportunity to do it and for that reason salary is kind of important.
I'm a very outgoing person so I don't want to work alone, I love interacting with people. For this reason, when I was doing research about the work field of the career I'm studying, I found out that you can work hand-in-hand with doctors, trying to find a treatment that could heal the patient.
Today, I think I made the right decision. I hope that in the near future I feel the same way about the career I chose.
As always, thank you for reading this blog.
See you soon!

MY FAVOURITE MUSICIAN

Hi guys! I hope you are having a nice day.

Today I'm going to talk about my favourite musician, James Blunt. People might recognize him for his single "You're Beautiful". He is an English singer and he is really popular in the UK. He is 43 years old and he plays the piano and the guitar.

His genre of music is a mix between pop, rock and folk wich makes every single one of his songs very different. Also, every time I hear one of his songs they make me feel instantly happy. When my family and I went to holiday, his album "Moon Landing" was on repeat. My favourite song is probably "Heart to Heart", it's a beautiful song.

The first time I heard one of his songs was when I was like 12 years old and it was "1973". My dad was responsable for it because he loves his music too. This is not weird because I really think I'm an old soul in a young body.

I hope you like him as much as I do because he is awesome.
Thank you for reading. Enjoy the rest of your day, make the most of it.
I'll see you soon!

A School Anecdote

Hi! How are you?. Today we are going to talk about my funniest school anecdote. I was in Spanish class with my friends Carolina and Matias. They are so funny especially when they're together.
So, we were reading a long paper about Cleopatra and her story. We were waiting for our turn to read out loud, my biggest fear because I have stage fright. The first one to read was Matias, he laughed all the time like he was going to explode and our teacher got mad. At one point our teacher talked about how Cleopatra was so lustful and my friend Carolina confused that word with luxury so she said out loud: "She was like that because she used to take baths with milk". All my classmates laughed and Carolina didn't realize why everyone was doing that. Even my teacher laughed. I felt so bad because when she realized what happened she was so embarrassed.
I know that it sounds boring but I promise you it was so funny.
Thank you for reading and I hope you have an amazing week. See you soon!

Hi guys!
I hope you are having a really nice day.
In this bog I'll talk about my favorite holiday.
At the beginning of this year I got the chance to travel to New York City and Washington D.C. with my father. He surprised me with this trip because he knew that this was one of my dreams since I was a child.
So we packed and went. The first stop was New York City, we stayed there for five days. We went to Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State, Coney Island, Cental Park (just to name a few). We walked and walked and walked. I think I lost a few pounds but every single step was worth it.
On the last day something really special happened. I saw my favorite actor, Jake Gyllenhaal. He was reopening Hudson Theater, located just in front of my hotel. Did I cry? Yes. I still can't believe it.

Then, we flew to Washington D.C. where we stayed for four days. We saw all the monuments and went to every single museum. My dad was so happy because he loves stuff like that. He is so smart. I think his favorite was the National Air and Space Museum.

This trip is something that I'm so thankful for. I loved every single moment of it.

A Country I Would Like To Visit

Hello everyone I hope you are having a nice day.

Ireland is one of those countries that I would really love to visit and in my first blog I want to share with you why I've been so fascinated with everything that involves this little island.

Why Ireland? The answer to that question it's easy, I been in love with that country since I watched the movie Leap Year which takes place in the south of Ireland.
Ever since I watched that movie (multiple times) I searched about it on the internet and it became one of my favourite places on earth.

I would love to see the beautiful landscapes like Cliffs of Moher in County Clare and visit all the castles and getting to know the history behind them.
Also, I'm in love with the Irish accent, I think it's sounds so beautiful and delicate.

Hopefully I can go to Ireland and maybe study there for a semester.

Thanks for reading, see you next time!
